Terri in silhouette

she walks her quick
mpatient stalk
and you hardly see her
a flicker of dazzle
- if you're quick -
slashing smile and a single
glitter of blue eye
a bright brittle shield
to cover the darkness

the audience at her own downfall
one act drama cast for one
how do you stop gravity
knowing the fall, knowing

but she bounces

Evans Bay

Listen to Mother lying
 Restless
The slow grinding of her teeth
 The seething breath
 A long slow foamy breath
 In, crush grumble hush
 Out, slash hiss shush
 Looking
 Full and full and empty
Down to the mossy rock depths
Cupping the land in her hand
 Hoarding a treasure
Of cans and tires and broken
 metal shards
Bones of earth and bones of man
 And she lies
 Lies and mutters stonily
 From me, to me
 from me, to me
Bear me up, lay me down
 Let my bones float away
 Take my weight at last
 From me
 Wash me with slow release
