Terri in silhouette

she walks her quick
mpatient stalk
and you hardly see her
a flicker of dazzle
- if you're quick -
slashing smile and a single
glitter of blue eye
a bright brittle shield
to cover the darkness

the audience at her own downfall
one act drama cast for one
how do you stop gravity
knowing the fall, knowing

but she bounces

Evans Bay

Listen to Mother lying
 Restless
The slow grinding of her teeth
 The seething breath
 A long slow foamy breath
 In, crush grumble hush
 Out, slash hiss shush
 Looking
 Full and full and empty
Down to the mossy rock depths
Cupping the land in her hand
 Hoarding a treasure
Of cans and tires and broken
 metal shards
Bones of earth and bones of man
 And she lies
 Lies and mutters stonily
 From me, to me
 from me, to me
Bear me up, lay me down
 Let my bones float away
 Take my weight at last
 From me
 Wash me with slow release

Wishing yourself away

Another grey desk day another sift through dusty data blindly searching a worm crawling in earth tasting bitter clays digging for connection mouth always agape no sight no sound no world but the data But this isnt reality Reality will always be violent death stalking coming for you through the silent mists across the barren mountainside the pounding pulse in your temple, your throat the clammy feeling of your hands on that wood the bitter adrenaline taste and the sudden sweet hope

Sinister

Delicate and faded
 as a Schubert sonata
 she chimed
 into my heart
 adagio of pain
 andante of loneliness
 allegro of strength
 presto of joy
 sweet music from
 a base obligato of neglect

Eaten

 Small
 scarred
 limping and screaming
 she clamps
 a beak
 aortic
 and I
 struggle
 not to
 let my
 self be
 consumed

twenty words

Snow melt from the branch brushes her cheek with tears
Her lips a light blue, she turns to look at me.

Oops

I try to write
 poems that dont rhyme
but I dont have the knack
 to stop in time
